Holiday time is fully present in our lives these days. It is the perfect time for traveling and discovering new places. Last weekend I had the chance to head off to Budapest to discover a new place in Europe. I am jumping up and down from excitement when I think about this short but energetic city trip. I must tell you that I am in two minds whether to write about Budapest or not. I have been there only for one weekend, so I am obviously not a real expert. On the other hand, some locals have shown me the best places of town, so I am well informed about the go-to places and the newest hot-spots. I will share with you my ultimate Budapest list!

Where to sleep

LUXURY  –  The Corinthia hotel in Budapest is one of the most luxurious from the city. You can stay the night in the beautiful presidential suite and when you wake up you must enjoy the breakfast with the dainty pieces of food. You furthermore can enjoy the spa where you can dream away and clear your mind. The hotel is within walking distance of the beauties of Budapest, such as the Fine Arts Museum, Opera House, Heroes’ Square, Chain Bridge, Castle District and Budapest Parliament.

BUDGET  –  The Mirage Fashion Hotel is a perfect hotel for the ones who are looking for a little lower budget hotel. This hotel is still luxurious, but the budget is better. It is located near the underground. Within 50 metres you are on the Heroes’ square where you can take the underground.

Where to eat and drink

food budapest 2Borkonyha  –  This restaurant/winekitchen is awarded with a Michelin star. It is one of the four restaurants in Budapest awarded with a Michelin star. As you can see on the plate the level of creativity rises high while serving the food! You can enjoy the best dishes which look like a big party on a plate:)

Katlan Tóni  –  One evening I ate at the Katlan Toni in Veresegyház, a little vilage near Budapest. I must tell you that the food looked and tasted amazing. All the ingredients they use are grown and harvested in Hungary, all local. My testebuds were activated to the max;)

Furthermore, I wanted to tell that you that you must visit the district in Budapest called Soho. There are lots of upcoming bars with good food and fresh cocktails. This part of the city has a very young spirit and the most amazing hot-spots of Budapest are located in Soho.

Where to go

k-8B5xhO9BCELMF4GNZCi_hvTesA7k4GRj5zkUjPzV4– Visit a traditional Hungarian market place where you can taste the best home-baked sweeties and buy organically grown fruits and vegetables. I must tell you one thing: the watermelons in Hungary are devine!

– Walk along the Danube. You can experience the best evening walk ever, because in the evening the city is amazing. You can walk along the Danube and admire all the pieces of architecture of Budapest.

– Visit the museum of fine arts. This is for all the art people around us. You can find the most beautiful and intricate pieces of art.

– Visit Buda castle district. This district of Budapest is worth going to. Once you have climbed the hill (or you can of course take a bus in the hot weather hihi) you have the most amazing view over the whole city.

Where to shop

For me shopping in the most luxurious parts of the city is totally relaxing and it enhances my mood! When I visit a Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Chanel shop I am always flabbergasted by the uniqueness of the pieces of fashion around me. It gives me a huge load of inspiration.

In Budapest you can visit luxurious shops in the Andrassy Avenue. Over here you can find boutiques from fashion brands such as Burberry, Valentino, Max Mara and Louis Vuitton.

It was a short but unforgettable trip! And I managed to get a good view of Hungarian life. I am thinking about writing a city trip guide of Prague as well, because this is the city that I know well for a very long time. Let me know if you like the travel posts. Do not be shy, leave a comment!
