Saturday 29th of August – the day I visited the Karl Lagerfeld exhibition in Bonn, Germany and also the day that once again confirmed how much I admire Karl Lagerfeld as a designer and as a person. In an earlier post I mentioned that I would dedicate a blogpost to Karl Lagerfeld, the creative head of many beloved brands, such as Fendi, Chloe and of course Chanel. I believe that now I have visited an epic Karl Lagerfeld exhibition, called Modemethode, the time has come to put my heart and mind about Karl on paper.
While writing this post a small note constantly pops up in the corner of my eyes. It is a note I wrote a few years ago when I was bored for a moment. It is a quote by Karl Lagerfeld and it says “personality begins where comparison ends”. This is one of the quotes of Karl which – in my opinion – is absolutely true. Every time when I don’t know very well about the who, what, where and how in life I just look at this quote. It reminds me of the fact that you must always be yourself. I believe that following your own ideas and identity takes you to the destination of your dreams. Following your own believes makes you form your own path instead of walking the path many have walked before. It makes life so much more diverse and creative. I love it.
Another quote by Karl Lagerfeld “I am a fashion person, and fashion is not only about clothes – it’s about all kinds of change”. Fashion is not just the clothing you are wearing. There is a whole lifestyle that comes along with the way you decide to dress. I believe a story behind the outfit, the location and the thoughts are as important as the outfit itself. When you change the way you dress then there are all kinds of changes that go parallel with it, as Karl Lagerfeld says. A change of clothing = a change of lifestyle = a change of beauty.
I am wearing my favourite vintage leather skirt and I combined it with a lace shirt from Zara. As the weather was a bit chilly that day I decided to complete the look with this AMAAAZING coat by Christina Duxa, which I bought in Munich, Germany, in a little designer shop. I accessorised it all with a 60’s style black headband and platform high heels.
